Hackle: Pheasant, India Hen, or Partridge Ribbing: Small Copper Wire, Silver (Unlit), Black (Lit) Thread:UNI, 6/0, Black (Unlit) or White (Lit) I’ll probably still carry the unweighted versions, but I think this is a major improvement on one of my staple patterns. But after my epiphany in 2014 with double glass bead flies, I realized I could improve the Lantern by supplanting the Mylar with two crystal beads, giving it the same shimmering effect while adding a little weight to help it sink. I tied it in two variations: light (“lit”), and dark (“unlit”). The fly performed swimmingly and I had the utmost confidence in it. It was just a simple sakasa kebari, but instead of thread for the head, I used pearlescent Mylar to give it a little flash. PLEASE INQUIRE ON-LINE about availability and shipping costs by clicking "Request a Quote" on the item you are interested in OR "Contact Us" if you need pricing and shipping on one or more items. SPECIAL ORDERS ARE USUALLY AVAILABLE WITH A 3-4 MONTH LEAD TIME DEPENDING ON WHEN THE ORDER IS PLACED IN RELATION TO THE TIMING OF OUR CONTAINERS WHICH ARE USUALLY LANDING IN SPRING AND FALL. "SPECIAL ORDER" USUALLY MEANS THAT WE TYPICALLY DON'T ORDER THIS SIZE OR TYPE IN ON A REGULAR BASIS UNLESS REQUESTED BY A CUSTOMER BUT, THIS IS NOT ALWAYS THE CASE SO CHECK WITH US TO BE SURE. NOTE THAT AN ITEM LISTED AS "STOCK ITEM" WON'T MEAN THAT IT IS ALWAYS IN STOCK, JUST THAT IT IS SOMETHING WE ORDER FOR INVENTORY ON A REGULAR BASIS. You can save some real $$$ doing that OR if you have a truck and live near a major metro area, consider going to the freight terminal to pickup your order and avoid residential liftgate charges. Know a local business owner who has a loading dock or forklift? Ask them if you can have your order shipped there. Belong to a garden club? Get members together and make a group purchase to share freight costs! 3. Only want one item? Ask a friend if they want to place an order and split the freight! 2. Costs go up from there but not radically. Purchase multiple items if you can - due to common freight carrier pricing structure, it is about the same to pallet ship one item as it is two or three up to around 500 lbs. We have a few suggestions on HOW TO GET THE BEST FREIGHT VALUE when purchasing these goods: 1. This has gotten very expensive in the last year as fuel and labor costs have risen significantly in the trucking industry. TIPS ON BEATING THE HIGH COST OF SHIPPING: Stone lanterns and basins must ship via pallet freight except for the smallest sizes. Remember there is NO SALES TAX in Oregon so this helps ease the tariff surcharge pain! 10% tariff/ocean freight surcharges still apply as the trade war with China slogs-on with it's 25% duty that WE PAY to the US government every time we import a container! Ocean freight is gradually coming down so hopefully the Biden administration will realize how inflationary these tariffs are and rescind them - allowing us to return to normal pricing. We have a decent inventory on-hand as of 12/1/22 with another container due early January 2023. The stone lanterns are available in many styles from the ornately formal to simply rustic in a variety of sizes and ALL are pre-drilled to accommodate low-voltage lighting! We are pleased to be able to offer these items at VERY reasonable prices and can ship them anywhere. Our ISHI DORO line of Japanese garden lanterns, posts and basins in traditional designs are hand-crafted in solid granite stone.
